Checklist: BIM Execution Plan (BEP)
Use this checklist to ensure the BEP provides a comprehensive response to the EIR and establishes a clear roadmap for project delivery.
1. Building the BEP (Response Strategy)
- Review & Populate: Review all pre-filled sections and complete all highlighted Smart Fields to customize the delivery strategy.
- EIR Alignment: Ensure every process defined in the BEP directly answers a requirement from the EIR (e.g., if EIR asks for "LOD 300," BEP must state "How we achieve LOD 300").
- Define Roles: Clearly identify the Lead Appointed Party, Task Teams, and Information Managers.
- Software & Standards: Specify the exact software versions (e.g., Revit 2026) and data exchange standards (e.g., IFC4) to be used.
Why this matters: Completing the BEP demonstrates how the project team will translate the EIR into a clear and coordinated information delivery approach. It defines responsibilities, processes, and standards that enable consistent delivery, coordination, and verification.
2. Technical & Management Execution
- Coordination Strategy: Define the clash detection process (frequency, tolerances, software).
- CDE Setup: Establish the Common Data Environment workflow (Folder structure, permission levels).
- QA/QC Procedures: Define how models will be checked before sharing (Audit protocols).
- Training & Capability: Confirm all team members have the necessary skills to execute the plan.
Why this matters: A BEP is worthless if it cannot be executed. These technical details ensure that the high-level goals of the EIR are grounded in daily workflows that the project team can actually follow.
BIM Execution Plan Checklist
1. Building the BEP
- Review the pre-filled BEP sections and Complete all highlighted Smart Fields in this BEP template how the project team will deliver information in response to the EIR
- Ensure the BEP aligns with the information requirements defined in the EIR (Task 1)
Why this matters:
Completing the BEP demonstrates how the project team will translate the EIR into a clear and coordinated information delivery approach. It defines responsibilities, processes, and standards that enable consistent delivery, coordination, and verification of information across the project.
